This is the AIRS, AMSU-A, and HSB weekly operations status report for Friday, January 30, 2026 (the end of week 1239 of the Aqua mission). On January 19th, the AIRS Level 1A processing system encountered an error caused by an overflow of an unsigned integer related to time. As a result, access to all data products generated after this point was temporarily suspended. The AIRS flight software was found to have stopped issuing periodic DC Restore commands, which resulted in saturation of PV detector outputs. The guard test on January 28 stopped and restarted the periodic DC Restore commands and the flight software has been issuing the commands normally since then. The AIRS instrument itself has remained fully operational throughout this period. The period of affected AIRS science data was approximately 2025/019 03:33 to 2025/028 22:50. AIRS: The AIRS instrument remains healthy with all voltages, currents, and temperatures as expected. AMSU-A1: AMSU-A1 is healthy except for channels 4, 5, 6, and 7. AMSU-A2: AMSU-A2, which provided channels 1 and 2 of the AMSU-A suite, suffered a non-recoverable loss of power on September 24, 2016 and is no longer operational. HSB: HSB has been non-operational since February 2003 due to a scanner anomaly. Instrument activities since previous report: An AIRS guard test ran on Wednesday, January 28. Here is the timeline (UT): 028/22:23:00 AIRS Guard Test begins (AIRS in CHECKOUT mode) 028/22:50:00 AIRS back in OPERATE mode MODIS Lunar Calibration #255 was executed on Friday, January 30. Here is the timeline (UT): 030/08:35:00 AIRS put into READY mode prior to Lunar Cal 030/08:59:00 AIRS back in OPERATE mode Upcoming events: 1) An AIRS photometric calibration test is scheduled for Saturday, February 7. A link there currently points to where the files are hosted at https://airsnrt.jpl.nasa.gov/nedt_trends/html/airs_channel_nedt_trends.html. For each channel there are plots for the whole AIRS mission and for the last 2 months. Going forward, weekly Ops status updates will be archived at the same webpage above, and are hosted at https://airsnrt.jpl.nasa.gov/report/latest and https://airsnrt.jpl.nasa.gov/report/archive/. ================================================================== William Mathews - AIRS Instrument Operations NASA / Jet Propulsion Laboratory
